Integrated Management System Policy Statement

EDF Energy B2C Energy Field Services (EFS) recognises that Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety issues are fundamental to our business. Our objective is to meet the requirements of all applicable legislation and, wherever practicable, implement best practice through our certified Integrated Management System (IMS) which satisfies the requirements of ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 and our overall business policy and strategy.

EFS fully recognises, supports and follows the aims and guidance given by EDF Energy’s Chief Executive believing that all harm is preventable and aim for zero harm, so:

  • Every job will be done safely, no matter how important or urgent it is.
  • Each of us has a personal responsibility for our own health and safety and for those around us.
  • Putting people to work carries a specific responsibility and accountability for safety and health which will be visibly demonstrated.
  • Each near miss we learn from reduces the chance of harm or environmental harm next time.
  • Each of us will spot, report and deal with hazards to help create a harm free workplace.

We recognise that our employees are our key resource and that accidents, ill health and incidents may result from failings in management control and are not necessarily the fault of individual employees. Our aim is to continually improve by setting measurable objectives and targets that are relevant to our operations for quality and reducing risks to health, safety and the environment.

Additionally, we care for the environment and are committed to our principles of sustainability and environmental performance improvement which are as important as any other business objective and we shall:-

  • Meet all applicable environmental legislation, regulations and accepted codes of practice.
  • Be committed to improving the environmental performance of EDF Energy.
  • Apply due care for the environment no matter how urgent or important the task.

In particular we shall:

  1. Continue to develop a positive Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety culture involving our employees in the process.
  2. Encourage all employees and contractors to take responsibility for working in a manner that promotes quality, whilst minimising harm to the environment and the health and safety of employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public.
  3. Assess the level of risk from all significant health and safety hazards and, so far as reasonably practicable, ensure that they are eliminated or adequately controlled.
  4. Provide appropriate information, systems of communication, instruction, training, retraining and supervision in health and safety to maintain and continuously improve the competence levels of all employees.
  5. Seek to minimise the environmental impact of our operations by preventing pollution and reducing energy consumption, the use of fuel and implementing initiatives to reduce waste to landfill.
  6. Ensure full compliance with applicable legal requirements related to our Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety processes and corporate business strategies; these will be regarded as minimum standards of achievement.
  7. Allocate sufficient financial and physical resources to achieve our objectives.
  8. Work to ensure that the quality of service delivered to customers consistently meets or exceeds their expectations and respond effectively to any concerns about the level of service provided.
  9. Regularly monitor, audit and review our own, contractors’ and suppliers’ performance to ensure continuous improvement.

Eric Salomon, Energy Field Services Director, who is responsible for Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety throughout Energy Field Services, is supported in this role by the Technical Assurance Manager who is responsible for developing policies and procedures in line with current health, safety and environmental legislation and corporate guidance and for monitoring and auditing IMS compliance.

This Policy Statement is communicated to employees and suppliers and will be made available to the public, stakeholders and any other interested party on request.
